Auxiliary and malefic stars are the traditional 'supporting cast' beyond the fourteen main stars. They add symbolic themes of support, pressure, resources, movement or attraction to a palace. Read them as interpretive modifiers—not promises of help, money, injury, marriage or other events.
Helpers, talent & nobles
The Six Auspicious Stars are traditional symbols of support, learning and collaboration. Read them as prompts about how help is offered, noticed or used—not as a promise that a benefactor will arrive or prevent harm.
Salary star & the Heavenly Horse
Lu Cun and Tian Ma are traditional symbols for resources, movement and changing work conditions. Their pairing is used to discuss the relationship between stability and mobility; it does not decide income, profit or investment returns.
Blade, drag, fire, void & robber
The Six Malefic Stars are traditional symbols for pressure, friction, urgency and disruption. They are not predictions of injury, loss or disaster; use them to examine how a person responds when plans meet resistance.
Romance, joy & charm
The Peach Blossom Stars are traditional symbols for attraction, visibility, celebration and relationship attention. They do not predict a wedding, pregnancy, fidelity or a destined partner; compare the theme with consent, communication and observable behavior.
Read the main star for the core archetype, then use supporting stars to refine the questions. They can add themes of help, pressure, resources or attraction, but they do not predict money, harm or relationship outcomes.
They are traditional modifiers placed alongside the main stars. Auspicious stars add support-and-learning themes; malefic stars add pressure-and-friction themes. They change the symbolic interpretation but do not calculate fortune, harm or a guaranteed outcome.
The Six Auspicious are Zuo Fu, You Bi, Wen Chang, Wen Qu, Tian Kui and Tian Yue. The Six Malefic are Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing, Ling Xing, Di Kong and Di Jie. These are historical categories for support versus pressure themes—not medical, safety or financial forecasts.
Main stars anchor the traditional archetype; auxiliary and malefic stars modify how that archetype is described. Think of the main star as the dish and the supporting stars as seasoning: they change the reading's emphasis, not a person's fixed essence or fate.
The four main peach-blossom stars are Hong Luan, Tian Xi, Tian Yao and Xian Chi. Traditional schools distinguish celebration-and-union themes from attraction-and-visibility themes. None can identify a destined partner or guarantee marriage, pregnancy, fidelity or an affair.
